Roots
AM MacKay Diversified Ltd. has roots going back to 1972 when MacKenzie’s father Allan started MacKay Excavating. By 1979 Allan had become a general contractor focusing on jobs with extensive excavation. At an early age MacKenzie began operating heavy equipment and had a keen interest in becoming his own boss. |

| The Start
AM MacKay Diversified Ltd. began in 1990 when its owner MacKenzie MacKay was still in high school. MacKenzie began doing residential and commercial landscaping projects as well as running loader backhoes and bobcats on his Dads construction projects. In 1994 MacKenzie acquired the assets of a land reclamation contractor who was retiring. The reclamation industry opened the doors to larger projects involving excavation and earthmoving.

Tools for the Job
In 1996 the first skid steer a Bobcat 773 was acquired and in 2002 the first excavator was purchased a Kobelco SK50. Reclamation and landscape projects were now being undertaken to include extensive earthwork as well. AM MacKay Diversified Ltd. was becoming well known for its ability to take on complex projects with a “one stop shopping” service to its growing clientele. |

More Tools for the Job
In 2004/2005 a larger excavator and tracked skid steer were purchased along with a tandem dump truck giving the capacity to take on site development including water and sewer projects. By this time MacKenzie and AM MacKay Diversified Ltd. were well known in the industry as a provider of solutions for complex challenges. |

From Then to Now
By the Mid 2000’s AM MacKay Diversified Ltd. was undertaking large projects that were in environmentally sensitive areas along the eastern slopes and Rocky mountains. These projects included dam rebuilding, utility installation, trail building, bridge installation, site remediation, reclamation and commercial on site waste water disposal systems. |
